12.9.2010 Fall things
Miki has been busy doing all kinds of fun things. He has swimmed in the river, played with the other dogs in our closest dog park - only few minutes walk away, been in the puppy show and in the stables and met nice herd of lambs. In the Heinola Pupy show Miki was the Best of Breed and next show will be 18th of September in Turku. Now Miki is limbing his right front leg. He probably hurt it by jumping from couch. We hope it will be fine till weekend. Miki lower canines has grown fine with little help from mom. Miki has been in the forest three times. Twice with the whole family commecting fire wood for the winter and once picking berries with Wall-e the French Bulldog. Miki has also another French Bulldog friend Reino aka Reiska. Reino is the black and white guy with funny ears in the photos. Miki has been practicing how to show teeth, because in Heinolashow he did not want to let strange lady (THE JUDGE!) to see them. It was not a good thing. Luckily the judge was merciful fot the little guy in his first show. Next time might not be as lucky. It still is hard to find strangers to look into his mouth!
29.7.2010 Boy in the hood!
Miki's sister Nanni visited us again and siblings had a great time. Even the hot and sunny weather couldn't hold them back. Mom signed Miki into his first puppy show in Heinola on Sunday 15th of August. It is 4 hour drive away and judging starts at 10 so it will be an early wake up. On Monday next week Miki got his last shot (rabies). Miki succeeded to jump on bed on his own for the first time! He had always waited mom to pick him up... He also managed to jump over the plywood fence placed in a doorway to the "cats' room". But mom got very very angry and throw Miki back twice and said: "There is a border line". So Miki forgot about the thing pretty soon (amazing!).
Miki was home with cats and granny while his humans travelled to Helsinki. Mom bought him a hooded t-shirt (see pic on the left). Miki hopped into suitcase to sleep just in case humans decide to travel again soon. He won't be left behind! Weather has been very hot and the all time temperature record was broken on Thursday 28th of July: +37,2 Celcius degrees (98,96 in Fahrenheits).19.7.2010
Miki succeeded to eat a field mouse! Prinsessa sneaked it in the garden without mom noticing. On the morning walk on Sunday Miki found a nice pile of hay and digged himself under it. Later same day we went to the river bank to watch rowers go by. There was Satakunnan Kansansoutu going on (Satakunta rowing event). Miki found mole holes and decided to enlarge them. Prinsessa laid down by him and watch. See the video in "Myyräntyöt jatkuvat".

Miki can now sit, lay down, do bunny, bark, pose, loose, wait, heel and show with his paw which hand contains a treat.
Today Miki went to see Riina on riding camp and met a 9 week old yellow lab Essi. There was also a wounded butterfly that flapped its wings on the ground and was a little bit suspicious! The heat eased a little after afternoon rain and Miki had a longer walk with mom. This time he actually walked and not just sat down after every ten steps.

On Monday Miki got his second shot. Rabies vaccinaton will be after 2 weeks. Miki met black and white French Bulldog at vet's office. There was also cat that looked like Mio. Mom met her colleague who was buying diet food for her dog Viivi. It has been very hot and family's people have been swimming in Yyteri beach, city swimming pool and Kirjurinluoto beach. Miki has got some refreshment from lawn watering shower. Miki has enjoyed strawberriers, smoked fish and fresh peas. On the evening walk we met many other dogs: Golden Retriewer, Lapphound Nero, Cairn Terrier Tassu and Tibetian Spaniels Eetu and Santtu.

French Bulldog Walle visited Miki today. Once again they have it on from the beginning - running, wrestling, growling. Walle has some kind of "stud" phase going. He liked to bully Miki. Walle took all the toys and bones. Mon and Elina took some photos and video clips. They are in etusivu and albumi. Next week Miki travels to Walle's summer house. There they can run free in the woods.

Miki's sister Nanni (Softail) visited us on Monday 21st. Puppys had fun running around the garden.
Miki visited riding stables once again on Wednesday last week. This time there was a young horse (one year old maybe) that got Miki's attention. Before Midsummer feast Miki tried the water in river Kokemäki in Ulvila. There is a beach for dogs. We spent Midsummer days in Kokemäki's Korkeanojanmaa where grandmom has a house and strawberry fields. By the fields she has a pond where Miki swam for the first time. Unfortunately mom didn't got it on video! Next day Miki only walked in water. Miki helped daddy to chop some wood before lunch. Family came back home on Saturday. It was fun for Miki, who couldn't run free in Korkeanojanmaa. There is a road too close to the house and no fence. Miki ran a little in the strawberry fields but otherwise mom kept him on the leash or he was in the puppy pen. But of course Miki slept with mom - this time on inflatable mattress.

Miki has done a lot since mom wrote here last time in English. We have been to mom's cousin's graduation party with many other dogs including Dachshund Nana (8 weeks), almost pure blood Podenco Ibizenco Onni (1 year, rescued from Romania)and Border Terrier Kerttu (13 years). We have done some gardening almost every day. Siiri had a birthday party with pinjata on Wednesday 2nd of July. Miki stayed in crate.
Miki got his vaccination on Monday 7th of June. His weight was 3,8 kilos. Mom measured his height and it was approximitely 21,5 cm. Miki has met some neighbour dogs like Coton de Tulears Donna, Aada and Fami. One eldery man wondered if Miki was a Bull Terrier. Family of craws have been teasing Miki in our garden. They try to steal his bone! There is one baby crow and parents. They eat mom's peas from kitchen garden.
Mom dropped her cell phone from her pocket and Miki got it before mom noticed. Miki managed to chew it a little bit but it is still working. Good for Nokia.

Miki was at work with mom on Friday. He slept in his cat carriage almost all the time. On Saturday we rode to Kokemäki to see granny. Dad was there cutting wood. Miki checked every place and got bitten by ants under the porch. When Miki was taking a nap Siiri noticed a little brown viper wiggling at the side of the house. Mom and dad put in a bucket and took in to the woods further away. Miki saw also an eagle and in the evening back home we saw an owl flying above our house.
Today on Sunday French Bulldog Walle came to visit. Walle is 3 days younger than Miki. They are the same size and they played fast and furious from the beginning. The guests left and Miki is now very sleepy. We will have a quiet evening!

Last night was the first dry one. No pee on the floor! Well, later in the morning Miki did it twice without mom noticing. He sure is fast inside, but outside mom have to wait and wait. And what a show when number two is coming!
Today Miki took a shower and got nails clipped and ears cleaned up. Miki practised walking on leash both in the backyard and on the street. Day was hot again and it made us quite lazy. Miki took a nap outside in the puppy pin. Siiri's friends were here after school and Miki run around with them. Younger kids make him quite wild and we have to be careful he won't rip anybody's pants. Luckily Miki calms down easily.
Tomorrow mommy will take Miki to work with her for couple of hours. Good chance to get socialised.

Miki visited riding stables with mom and Riina. Little sheltie Dimma was not frightening, but big Roki was - a little bit. When ponies came in line after class Miki sat and watch them in peace. The most exciting thing were girls wearing helmets and riding a scooter.

Miki travelled home May 13th 2010 with his new family; mom, dad, daughters Riina and Siiri. First few minutes in cat's crate were not happy ones, but since he got toy zebra everything was ok. Miki fell soon asleep and slept the rest of time. When getting out of the car and crate, it took a while before Miki peed in his new garden. Everything was so exciting. Luckily weather was great and Pori happened to be the warmest place in Finland. Family's cats escaped upstairs as soon as they saw what kind of creature was carried in the house! Family has three cats - one is an outdoor cat, one walks in a harness and one stays only indoors. Indoor cat Mio (nutered male) was most curious about the puppy and by the evening Miki even managed to sniff its butt! But mainly cats stayed upstairs and dog downstairs.
The first night mom slept on mattress with Miki. Everything went just fine. Lots of kisses and snuggling. Mom took Miki out twice during the night. Next day Miki tried some gardening - especially digging went well and totally without a spade. Miki also practised to stay in crate both in and out. Mom gave Miki a lot of treats and trained him to know his name, to follow and to come when called.
The second night went well, too. This time Miki slept on his own bed besides the coach and mom slept on the couch holding her hand close to puppy. Alarm clock waked mom up to take Miki out twice. The third night mom and Miki slept in the bedroom with dad. Miki's bed was on the floor at the mom's side of the bed and once again mom had her hand available. Miki has been very happy (or brave) little puppy and hasn't made a sound during nights.
Miki made a little car trip to mom's mom alias granny. Well, he fell asleep in the crate during the 15 min trip and slept all the time. So he didn't see much of granny. Fortunately granny came to see him on Friday. Granny will take care of Miki on Monday, when mom and dad are at work and girls in are school.
